Resources for Future Teachers

Teaching is an important profession, and takes a lot of dedication and work to achieve. Applying for scholarships can help pay for tuition and school supplies, which can help students pay for potentially expensive education degrees. There will be exams to take in order to get certified as well. In Texas, that is the TExES exam. There are many resources out there to help you register and study for this exam, including study guides and practice TExES tests.

Meet our 2023 Scholarship Winner!

Emily Polizzi: Future Texas Teacher

The 2023 Future Teacher Scholarship will help my studying to become a Special Education Teacher. Since I have low income and have Autism, I need to be able to afford textbooks, classes and other accommodations I may need in order to achieve my goals. While working as a Hostess and being paid by SSI may help me be able to have the basic necessities to live on my own, it's not enough to pay for any college classes, school materials or any necessary accommodations for a college student with special needs. I've been wishing to become a Special Education Teacher since I was in High School during my diagnosis. I know the difficulty and hardships with being a Special Education Teacher. As such, I know learning to be a teacher, especially one in Special Education, will very difficult due to my developmental disability. I will require more than textbooks and two years of college. I will need transportation to college due to my inability to drive, a digital camera specifically for recording my lessons as part of my accommodations and other necessary supplies outside of what's expected in my classes. With this scholarship, I hope to achieve my goals and work harder than any other student. It will be difficult, but this Autistic Woman was told when diagnosed with Autism that she would never obtain a Diploma or pass college. I already got my Diploma. Now, I'm going to pass college.
